Food! So far...

First couple of meals in Korea were just like this.  I didn't have to talk to get it, and it was portable.  This is a little park near my apartment that I ate breakfast in for a couple of days.  My meals soon became much more elaborate :-)

This was my dinner tonight, on August 1st.  This was at a place called Three Pigs, and you cook the meat on a grill in the table, and they give you a million side dishes.  Here, there's a sweet vinegar, a hot pepper paste (both so yummy) a bowl of onions for grilling, bowl of garlic for grilling, a onion-y salad, a basket of lettuce to wrap everything in, and a bowl of (of course) kimchi.  Glass Pepsi bottles = awesome.  The tube there wrapped in plastic is a wet washcloth.  And somewhere on the table there is a thermos of water that has a tea bag in it.  It makes the water taste so fresh!  This was a really fun meal.  $5!  :-)  This was a meat tongs AND table scissors meal.  That's Ricky's arm.

Look at all that color!!  This is at Shabu Shabu, a Vietnamese/Korean place across the street from my school.  Sally brought me here and it was fabulous.  You make your own spring rolls, more or less.  That plate had so many different kinds of veggies it was ridiculous.  So, you put whatever veggies you feel like into that silver pot filled with broth, and then the meat as well, everything cooks together, you build your spring roll, and at the end that broth is so amazing it's not even funny.  Lovely, yummy lunch!  Only $10.  This would cost so much back home!!  That's Sally's arm :-)

So, those white disks in the orange holder are rice paper.  You put those in the grayish bowl behind it that's filled with hot water and that makes them all saran wrappy :-)  Then there are side dishes of a mayonnaise-y salad (which was really yummy) and noddles that they make a porridge out of at the end.

It's not really levitating...it's on the rice paper after it's been soaked, and then you wrap it up, and eat it.  This one has the beef, alfalfa sprouts, pineapple, lettuce, cucumber, and sauce.  Yummy!  This was really fun food!  Shabu Shabu!

Lunch!  Gimbop!  :-)

Yum!!  Tuna, carrot, radish, rice, seaweed, and more, all for about $2.  Can't beat it!

This little roll has a secret...

Surprise!!  And there's even cheese in this cute little heart!

Aww, sweet love :)
More to come :-)
